Marlon Platt, Founder of the web app Tickt, is an innovative connector. Designing what could only be described as every builder’s best friend, Tickt saves builders and project managers valuable time and keeps their projects moving. Helping tradespeople find quality jobs and in turn helping them build a great reputation for themselves.
Marlon is a new member of our P100 village and we’re excited to welcome him to our community. “My partner recently became a P100 member and encouraged me to sign up,” says Marlon. “Born and bred in Melbourne, we saw first-hand the effects of trauma experienced by people in our community. I worry it might be, ‘out-of-sight, out-of-mind’ for many here on the beautiful Sunshine Coast. So, even more reason to get involved and support a cause that can make a real difference to people’s lives.”
Marlon has a background in brand and web development and this particular venture has allowed him to dive into a new industry and develop a solution to a common problem found within it. “Engaging with local builders, tradespeople and other thought leaders, is constantly showing me how to have a positive impact on the building industry. As a problem solver, this has been extremely rewarding,” Marlon explains.
Many of our P100 members enjoy making new connections with like-minded people during our quarterly gatherings. They provide the perfect setting for members to mingle and make new friends.
“I want to be a part of a collective that can achieve big things,” says Marlon. “I look forward to meeting other members knowing we have shared values and a common goal of making a difference to our community. I can’t wait to see what can be achieved.”
A self-confessed lover of surfing, when he’s not working magic on his new app, you’ll find Marlon catching a few waves in his downtime. “Lately my 7-year-old son caught the surfing bug,” Marlon adds with amusement. “So, I spend a bit more of my time helping him onto the waves, than surfing myself.”
When Marlon was asked why he believes it’s important to give back to the community, he’s quick to credit his mother for his drive to help those facing adversity. “I’ve always believed in giving back wherever possible. As a child, my mother was (and still is) big on volunteering and helping her community wherever she can.”
“In a world that has become heavily geared towards the individual, I think it’s important to remember where we came from and how we got here – not through selfishness and individual advancements, but by working together as a community.
“It’s also important for those of us who have had relatively comfortable lives to remember that there are many who experience horrors and trauma that we couldn’t comprehend. Even the smallest contribution to your community can make a life-changing difference for someone, somewhere.”
